Joining a Chamber Makes Good Business Sense
The public has been trained well knowing that calling a local Chamber of Commerce is like calling the 411 operator, or maybe even better.
In fact, even the 411 operator will refer a caller to a Chamber when they don’t know where else to find the answer. Generally, a Chamber won’t fail to find the information and refers its members whenever it can.
Chambers have long been reputed to “know it all” or at least know how to obtain the information. Your Carson City Chamber fields calls for just about everything from what shows may be playing in Las Vegas (we give them the Las Vegas Visitors Bureau number) to how to get rid of bees.
Local businesses know the value of joining a chamber. Having a member plaque proudly displayed within the business provides the sense of credibility the public has come to value. We often field calls asking about a business and we are always proud to tell them that a business is a member and yes, we know the owner and what the business has to offer.
A recent study commissioned by American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) by Market Street Services, an independent firm that focuses solely on community and economic development issues, found that “advocates of chambers of commerce have long believed that when a company is active in its local chamber, it is doing the right thing not only for the community but for its own success as well.”
Further, the results show that consumers look more favorably on the business when it proudly displays the chamber membership certificate. The certificate implies that the “company uses good business practices, is involved in the community, cares about customers and is reputable,” according to the study.
Make certain you patronize a Carson City Chamber member that proudly displays their membership credentials. You’re sure to get good service and high quality merchandise.
The findings:
- 59% think being active in the local chamber is a sound business strategy.
- If a company is highly involved in its local chamber, consumers are more likely to think the company has higher credibility, is trustworthy and is an industry leader.
- When consumers know that an insurance company is a member, they are 43% more likely to purchase insurance from a member.
- If a small business is a chamber member, 63% are more likely to purchase goods and services from the company.
