Purple Avocado was the first eclectic gift store to open in Carson City 25 years ago and gained an instant following of those who wanted the unusual.

Many customers showed up on June 27 to wish owner Sue Jones many more years of success. The event was bittersweet without her longtime partner, companion, and husband Stan Jones who passed on December 28, 2023. There has always been a dog mascot to charm the guests.
