Because Hometown Health transitioned into Kaiser Permanente Nevada, the Chamber's exclusive small-business health insurance program is now managed and supported under the Kaiser Permanente name.

Kaiser Permanente and Renown Health completed a joint venture in early 2026 where Kaiser acquired a majority stake in Renown's insurance division, Hometown Health, to officially launch Kaiser Permanente Nevada in northern Nevada. This partnership expands affordable value-based healthcare options, transitions Hometown Health operations, and opens new multi-specialty regional offices.

Structure of the Joint Venture

• ›Ownership: Co-owned by Kaiser Permanente and Renown Health, with Kaiser holding a majority interest in Hometown Health.
• ›Rebranding: Hometown Health operations and health plans transition to operate under the name Kaiser Permanente Nevada.
• ›Independent Renown: Renown Health remains an independent, locally governed, not-for-profit health system.

Care and Member Impact

• ›Member Continuity: No immediate changes occurred to existing patient benefits, coverage terms, or current care teams upon closing.
• ›New Facilities: New localized multi-specialty outpatient and ambulatory care offices have opened in the Reno-Sparks area.
• ›Value-Based Care: Combines Kaiser’s national care model with Renown's regional hospital and urgent care network to lower costs and improve patient outcomes.

• ›Plan Retention: The specific Association Health Plan structures (including HMO, EPO, and PPO choices) remain intact for eligible small businesses with 50 or fewer employees and retain their Carson City Chamber membership.
• ›Provider Network Continuity: Covered employees retain local access to existing medical partners like the Renown Health and Carson Tahoe Health
• ›Kaiser Facility Access: Enrolled members can also utilize newly established Kaiser facilities in the region, such as the Del Monte and Ion Medical Offices, which provide integrated primary care, lab, and imaging services
