The basic steps
- Choose a legal structure — LLC, corporation, partnership, or sole proprietorship — and register with the Nevada Secretary of State (SilverFlume is the state's online portal).
- File a Fictitious Name Certificate (DBA) if you'll operate under a name other than your legal one.
- Get your State Business License — $200 per year, renewed annually.
- Obtain a Retail Sales Permit if you'll sell taxable goods.
- Apply for a Carson City local business license before you open.
- Secure any environmental or special permits that apply to your operation.
- Handle compliance: zoning, EIN, workers' comp, unemployment insurance, and the Modified Business Tax.
